Owen Grady Jurassic World Funny Quotes
Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Jurassic World Dominion
The final chapter in the Jurassic Park franchise has come to pass with the release of Jurassic World Dominion . The second trilogy featured Owen Grady and Claire as main characters but the likes of Ian Malcolm, Alan Grant, and Ellie Sattler also returned from the Jurassic Park trilogy.
The Jurassic World series deals with the large-scale events that take place from the release of the dinosaurs, with themes ranging from corruption to survival. Whether it's an action one-liner from Owen or a thought-provoking statement from Ian, it's worth taking a look at some of the best quotes across the trilogy.
Henry Wu (Jurassic World)
"A Monster Is A Relative Term. To A Canary, A Cat Is A Monster. We're Just Used To Being The Cat."
Simon Masrani and Henry Wu got into an intense argument after the Indominus Rex wreaked havoc on Jurassic World. When the former confronted Wu, arguing that he never authorized the creation of a monster, Wu hit back by telling Masrani that he'd been too naive to understand what the definition of a monster was.
This quote does a great job of contextualizing things, as Wu pointed out that the Indominus Rex was a predator doing what it was created to do. The blame actually fell on Masrani himself for not realizing the dangerous lengths he was making Wu go to in order to make dinosaurs "cooler."
Benjamin Lockwood (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom)
"What Fools We Were, Trying To Run Before We'd Learned To Walk."
John Hammond's vision for Jurassic Park continues to hold up well today since he wanted the creatures to live in peace. However, his former business partner, Benjamin Lockwood, pointed out that they were both fools for trying too much while knowing so little.
Hammond and Lockwood had noble intentions, but the creation of Jurassic Park enabled greedy individuals to capitalize and twist what they'd set out to do. Lockwood admitted that they were very myopic in their dream to bring dinosaurs to life because they didn't consider the impact their creations would have on the world.
Owen Grady (Jurassic World Dominion)
"I Always Come Back."
Owen is a classic action hero who has a lot of one-liners and carries steely-eyed resolve. Fans would have noticed he tended to survive lethal scenarios and it was good to hear him refer to this in Jurassic World Dominion when he assured Claire that he would survive.
The moment took place when Owen headed to the lower levels of BioSyn's facility where he had to capture Beta. Upon being asked by Claire to take care of himself, Owen replied that he always did. It was a way for the movie to assure viewers that the hero wasn't going to meet his demise.
Alan Grant (Jurassic World Dominion)
"Ellie, I Am Coming With You."
The return of Alan Grant was one of the things that got fans excited in the Jurassic World Dominion trailer, with the protagonist stepping up for the latest adventure. As it turned out, Alan's devotion to his work had left him all alone, which made him regretful for not picking Ellie over his career.
In the climax of Jurassic World Dominion , Alan decided to go with his heart and told Ellie that this time he was sticking with her. It essentially doubled as a confession of love, as Ellie kissed Alan to cement their renewed romance and the fact that Alan had now realized what matter to him most.
Ian Malcolm (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom)
"Change Is Like Death. You Don't Know What It Looks Like Till You're Standing At The Gates."
The inclusion of the previous trilogy's protagonists only made Jurassic World that much better, with Ian Malcolm returning in the second film. Ian argued that the dinosaurs at the island should be left to perish naturally since he saw it as nature correcting the wrong made by man.
According to Ian, doing something to avert the disaster would bring in a change that nobody was prepared for and there wasn't any way mankind could be ready. Ian turned out to be correct since the world eventually had to learn to live with dinosaurs, which carried a heavy death toll.
Simon Masrani (Jurassic World)
"The Greatest Thing We Must Learn In Life Is That Nothing Is Impossible."
Simon Masrani may have inadvertently caused the disaster at Jurassic World, but he never had malicious intentions. In reality, Masrani saw himself as something of a successor to John Hammond, in that he wanted people to behold the dinosaurs with a sense of wonder.
Masrani used his wealthy position to authorize the creation of dinosaur hybrids, thinking it proved that having boundless imagination was the way to go forward. He was in for a rude awakening when he learned of the Indominus Rex's rampage, but it should be noted that Masrani never meant for anything bad to happen.
Owen Grady (Jurassic World)
"We Should Probably Stick Together...For Survival."
This quote served two purposes with one line, as Owen made a flirtatious move on Claire and summed up how people needed each other to survive. The pair had started out unable to stand one another, only for their adventure in Jurassic World to bring them close.
Owen saw that Claire was more than the uptight executive he thought her to be and she came to understand that he was more than a brawny raptor trainer. In the first film's ending, Owen suggested that they stay together for survival, which became true in the emotional sense as the pair became a couple.
Ian Malcolm (Jurassic World Dominion)
"In Order To Instigate Revolutionary Change, We Must Transform Human Consciousness."
Ian Malcolm said these words during his speech at the BioSyn facility, where he argued that humans had to come to terms with the dinosaurs now being on the mainland. It tied into his words about change in the previous film, as Ian had now seen what came to pass once dinosaurs were released.
As a chaotician, Ian's job was to weigh the probabilities of what was to happen, with his mindset now turning to thinking that it was time for humanity to change rather than expect the dinosaurs to retreat. His words stand true for life in general since people need to constantly evolve in order to keep up with the times.
Ellie Sattler (Jurassic World Dominion)
"What Matters Is What We Do Now."
Ellie is undoubtedly among the bravest Jurassic Park characters and she showed the courage to deal with her personal demons in Jurassic World Dominion . During Ellie and Claire's venture to reboot the A.D.S, Claire asked Ellie how she lived with her regrets, to which Ellie replied with this quote.
She highlighted the need to live with the ghosts of a person's past rather than let them hold someone down. Ellie still carried the trauma of her experience in Jurassic Park and the dissolution of her marriage, but she soldiered through her problems with the intention of doing better in the present.
Claire Dearing (Jurassic World Dominion)
"You're The Only You That Ever Was."
Claire became Maisie's adoptive mother before the events of Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom and took this role very seriously. When Maisie confessed her sadness at being a clone and not a biological child, Claire assured her that she was still unique because there was no one like her.
It eventually turned out that Maisie had actually been birthed naturally, but Claire's words showed that she didn't care what Maisie was because her love was unconditional. Maisie herself came to appreciate Claire and Owen by the end of the movie, making them a proper family.
